Congressional Kickoff

Now that we're all back home and resting after a wonderful trip, we can document what happened yesterday.  Everything was quite fast-paced and a bit of a whirlwind, but I think we all had fun nonetheless!

To start our day of advocating off, most of us attended the Congressional Kickoff, where we were greeted and offered a light breakfast, because they knew advocating would make us hungry.  Many speakers offered words of encouragement throughout the morning, and spoke of achievements that we, as advocates, were capable of.

The best part, in my opinion, was listening to Carla Canales speak about how arts impacted education, and she is from Ypsi! She talked about how her strong arts education in her hometown is what drove her to where she is today.  The second she was done speaking, I bolted over to her, because I absolutely needed to meet this incredible woman.

Carla was overjoyed to meet our group, since we're all from Eastern.  It was a great experience to hear from someone that we can relate to, and a perfect way to start off the day!
